The Republic of Ireland took their unbeaten run to seven matches after powering past Finland in a low key Dublin friendly.

The visitors created all the best moments at the start of the game and came close to taking the lead in the 4th minute when Kulka was at the far post to just miss after a great cross from Jari Litmanen.

Jonaton Johansson forced a save from Shay Given a minute later but the Irish took the lead in the 14th minute with a simple move against the run of play.

Steve Finnan reached a long and hopeful ball upfield and rounded goalkeeper Jaskelainen with his first touch and hit the ball into an empty net.

Although Kulka hit the bar with a snap shot Ireland scored again late in the game.

Kevin Kilbane was free to head in a driven cross in the 84th minute and Steve Staunton rocketed a free kick into the top corner of the net with the last kick of the match.
