Deportivo La Coruna hammered three goals in the last half hour to overtake PSG easily in the end.
The French club had been given a 38th minute lead when Deportivo goalkeeper Jose Molina fluffed a catch to palm Jimmy Algerino's shot into the net but that was as good as it got for the French club who were missing record signing Nicolas Anelka with an injury.
Deportivo defender Noureddine Naybet equalised with a hard volley high into the net from distance in the 63rd minute and this was the cue for the home side to collapse.
The Spanish champions took their chance to move forward and a 70th minute drive from Turo Flores put the visitors into the lead.
A last minute shot by Dutch striker Roy Makaay emphasised the gulf between the two sides.
