Sporting Lisbon crashed out of the Champions League with a 3-0 home defeat against Spartak Moscow.
The Portuguese champions have only now to complete the formality of two remaining matches and they conceded six goals in two games to the Russian side.
Spartak took the lead in the 16th minute when Egor Titov crossed from the left and the ball bounced off defender Dimas Teixeira into the net with goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel unable to move.
Titov scored himself when he beat Schmeichel from the edge of the area after a ball was allowed to run loose in the Sporting defence in the 52nd minutes then he added his second by heading in a 67th minute corner.
Sporting could find no way past Alexander Filimonov in the Spartak goal.
