Champions League - Paris Saint Germain 7 Rosenborg 2

First Published: Oct 24, 2000

Paris Saint Germain scored one of the biggest Champions League wins ever with a 7-2 thrashing of Norwegian champions Rosenborg at Parc des Princes.

The French club are now well placed to follow Bayern Munich into the next stage from Group F.

Frederic Dehu started the carnage in the Rosenborg defence with a low drive and Christian scored from close range in the 35th minute.

Nicolas Anelka then scored his first with a converted cross in the 35th minute to put PSG beyond reach.

This was just as well as the Norwegians produced a great recovery to score twice in two minutes when Christer George hit two drives when he was allowed a lot of space in the home defence to place his shot.

Peter Luccin had the last word in the first half to end Rosenborg's hope of sustaining their momentum.

Substitute Lauren Leroy added a fifth goal with a clever chip to improvise a finish in the 76th minute and Robert hit the sixth goal from the penalty spot before Anelka ran through to complete the seventh goal with a neat finish.
