Juventus needed an 83rd minute goal from new French signing David Trezeguet to finally subdue Panathinaikos in Turin.
Trezeguet headed in a corner from Jonathan Bachini after a good jump to narrowly win the game.
Significantly Trezeguet came on as a substitute for Alessandro Del Piero who is still struggling to return to his best form.
Juve had taken the lead in a poor game in the 35th minute when a dipping volley from Alessio Tacchinardi hit the cross bar and luckily hit goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis on the back to roll over the line for a goal.
In the dying seconds of the first half Juve let the lead slip as they had in Hamburg last week when Ioannis Goumas gave Edwin Van Der Sar no chance to save 25 metre drive on the run.
Only Trezeguet had the opportunism to save Ancelotti's team from a second successive draw but Juve need better form quickly.
