Valencia had no trouble winning in Heerenveen.

Kily Gonzalez scored the only goal of the game in the 38th minute when he reached a cross to steer the ball into the net but the score line did not reflect the domination of the game by the impressive Liga side.

The wet and heavy conditions did little to help the game and veteran Didier Deschamps left the game after only ten minutes with a groin injury.
