Olympiakos resisted a fight back from Olympique Lyon to hold onto a 2-1 win.

The Greek champions went into a 19th minute lead when Peter Ofori-Quaye reached a low cross to divert the ball into the net and the home team extended their lead eleven minutes before half time when Giovanni hit in a low shot.

Lyon recovered but failed to create chances on the break to get back into the game and had to wait until the 88th minute for Marc Vivien Foe to score a late consolation with a low drive.
