Champions League - AC Milan 1 Paris Saint Germain 1

First Published: Feb 14, 2001

Ten man AC Milan threw away a victory in the Champions League as PSG came back to draw this game.

PSG got back on terms before Brazilian defender Roque Junior was red carded for a cynical foul on Nicolas Anelka in the 42nd minute.

The Milan player was issued an immediate red card and the loss of a defender put Milan back in their shell after mounting some good pressure at the start of the second half.

Andriy Shevchenko was through on goal but dragged his shot wide in the home team's best chance of the night but Milan have now let Galatasary pass them in the group and will have to work harder at home if they are to qualify. Pressure from their own fans is clearly telling on the team after a poor month in the league but the visit to Paris next week offers little chance for optimism unless the French club flop badly.

Leonardo had opened the scoring in the 27th minute against his former club when Demetrio Albertini passed to him with his back to goal. The Brazilian midfielder spun across his defensive marker and drove the ball low into the net but PSG were soon back in the game.

Nicolas Anelka easily out paced the home defence and buried his chance on the half hour after Ali Benarbia had curled a pass into his run.
