FC Barcelona recovered from a 4-0 Liga defeat at the weekend to ease past AEK Athens thanks to a first half goal from veteran Luis Enrique.

The Spanish international was first to react when the AEK defence failed to clear a cross and he ran on to a loose ball to slap in a shot in the 41st minute.

Otheer than that chance Barca made little impression as an attacking force with the Athens defenders chasing down everything well.

The home team saw Demis Nikolaidis fluff two chances in the first 26 minutes to get a goal when he over ran the ball in the 13th minute and then shot wide when put clear in the 26th minute.
