FC Porto set up a UEFA Cup quarter final meeting with Liverpool despite a defeat at Nantes.
The 2-1 loss to the French side saw a solo goal from Jesus Pena that saved Porto from extra time.
Pena gave Porto an 18th minute lead when he beat three players to clip a low shot underneath goalkeeper Mickael Landreau.
Nantes got back on level terms when substitute Marama Vahirua hit the target in the 68th minute when he was put clear by Olivier Monterrubio.
Sylvain Armand won the game for Nantes in the 74th minute when Sergei Ovchinnikov dropped the ball in front of his goal. Porto were further damaged by the sending off of Dimitri Alenichev in the 84th minute for a second bookable offence.
