First Published: Feb 14, 2002

South Korea lost again on their progress to the World Cup finals in May.

A 2-1 defeat to a scratch Uruguay side was yet another disappointment for Dutch coach Guus Hiddink who was then joked out of the pres conference following the game.

On the fiueld two goals from Sebastian Abreu cancelled out Kim Do-Joon's 27th minute equaliser.

All the Koean kit was removed from their changing room before they returned from the field infuriating Hiddink who stormed away from staff at the Montevideo stadium who had taken the clothes as a joke.

Abreu scored his first goal marking the end of an absence of five years from the national team in the 7th minute.

Mario Regueiro crossed for Abreu in space to head in but Korea responded very well.

They passed the ball well and forced goalkeeper Fabian Carini to turn away a snap shot from Kim Tae Young onto the post but Kim Do-Joon beat him close to the half hour to slot a chance under Carini after a poerful run through the defence.

Abreu converted a cross ten minutes into the second half to undo good Korean work in the first half leaving Hiddink still without a win in over a year of matches with Korea.
