Host nation Mali produced their best ever performance at an African Nations Cup to reach the last eight of the competition with a 2-0 win over Algeria.
Capital city Bamako saw traffic stopped as crowds thronged the streets to celebrate the win.
Mamadou Bagayoko hit a low drive in the 18th minute after a precise cross from Daouda Diakite that allowed the striker to turn and find space for his powerful shot with Bassala Toure adding a second six minutes later when he broke through a fluffed off side ploy against an Algerian team who had captain and striker Abdelhafid Tasfaout taken to hospital with head wounds after a clash with Bagayoko.
Mali finished runners-up with five points behind group leaders Nigeria who ended on seven points.
