Parma AC offer Alex to Deportivo on loan

Young Brazilian star Alex has been offered on loan to Deportivo La Coruna by Parma AC.

Parma signed Alex on a pre contract last month and the midfielder will earn £1.2 million under the agreement and will leave Palmeiras next summer.

FC Porto, OM, Deportivo La Coruña, Cruzeiro, Vasco da Gama and PSG were all linked with the player before he completed the agreement with Parma but may now be sent for a season to Spanish champions Deportivo next year.

The Italian club have officials in Galicia today to dicuss the loan with Deportivo and the Spanish club is keen to be involved with the star who is already a regular for the national team.

Alex is expected to be a star of the Olympics in Sydney next month. He helped Palmeiras win the Copa Mercosur in 1998 when he top scored in the competition and passed a medical yesterday at the Ennio Tardini stadium before agreeing final terms with his new club.

The player is 23 next month spent ten years playing in six-a-side matches in indoor football before joining his first club in his home town of Coritiba.
