Scotland have ruled midfielder Paul Lambert out of their World Cup qualifier in Latvia on Saturday.

The Glasgow Celtic star was injured in the derby game against Rangers on Sunday and stretchered from the field with a groin strain which has not responded well to treatment.

The former Borussia Dortmund player is set to miss the start of Scotland's 2002 World Cup qualifying campaign in Riga on Saturday evening and could miss the next two weeks at least of the SPL season for Celtic.
