West Ham hope to complete the signing of Cameroon international Rigobert Song from Liverpool today.
The Cameroon international has told French press reporters that the deal is certain to go through but the two Premiership teams have agreed a fee of £2.5 million but personal terms have still to be discussed.
Song joined Liverpool after the 1998 World Cup finals and has seen his first team chances grow increasingly limited despite some good performances for the Anfield club.
He is now part of a rebuilding plan at West Ham after they sold star defender Rio Ferdinand to Leeds United today for a British record £18 million. West Ham want Song to join their defence after the loss of the 22 year old England international.
Song played no part last night in Athens as Liverpool were unlucky to only draw 2-2 with Olympiakos in their first leg UEFA Cup third round tie.
An injury time equaliser by Alexios Alexandris - his second goal of the game - denied Liverpool a deserved win after they scored twice and hit the woodwork three times as well as wasting three good late chances to rout the Greek club.
