AC Milan sign Pablo Garcia

Uruguayan international Pablo Garcia is on his way to Serie A after AC Milan and Atletico Madrid agreed a £5 million co-ownership deal.

The 23 year old striker had been linked earlier this summer with a move to Juventus or Fiorentina, but president Jesus Gil did not want to release him completely after the Spanish club's relegation last April writes Rafael Salido.

However, since his arrival in Madrid Garcia has only had a few chances to prove his value in the first team, despite earning his first cap last February, and so he was allowed to leave the club this week.

Now that Gil and Silvio Berlusconi have reached an agreement it is up to the player to sign a new contract that may give him the chances he lacked in Spain. Milan have signed Garcia too late for the Champions League deadline - they host Besiktas tomorrow night - and Atletico will retain an interest in the player which could see a return back to Spain if his time in Milan is not a success.
