Arsenal will know this week if Sao Paolo goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni who is currently the first choice Brazilian goalkeeper is to join them.
The London club have denied any interest in Ceni but talks have gone ahead on the offer of a four year contract and Ceni has discussed the move with the Sao Paolo board.
The goalkeeper and the board will make their final decision this week.
A new goalkeeper has been a priority for Arsenal for over two years as veteran David Seaman reaches 38 years of age but Seaman is still playing for the England team and is expected to have some role at Arsenal next season. Seaman has accepted a new contract extension of a year with Arsenal.
The Brazilian goalkeeper's agent has been in talks with Arsenal directors about a summer move for the Sao Paolo player and the Brazilian club want around £5.5 million him.
Sao Paolo also have interest in their combative midfielder Julio Batista.
AC Milan have watched the under-20 international in his last two matches.
