Struggling AS Monaco have signed German veteran Oliver Bierhoff from AC Milan.

The 33 year old striker has confirmed the move on his web site while he prepares with the Germany squad to face England in a 2002 World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

Bierhoff had offers from several clubs including OM but is to join coach Didier Deschamps at the French principality club who have not won in five matches so far at the start of the new French season.

"I am happy with the contract and I am looking forward to joining them," says Bierhoff.

"The fact that Didier Deschamps rates my qualities made the decision very easy." He has a two year contract with the French club after spending three years at Milan and helping the club to the 1999 Italian title.
