Ukraine send Levitsky for surgery

Spartak Moscow and Ukraine goalkeeper Maxim Levitsky has been sent for an elbow operation and could miss the rest of this year.

Levitsky has dropped out of the Ukraine World Cup squad which faces Belarus and Armenia on September 1st and 5th to go foor surgery after reporting sharp pains in his arm.

The 28 year old has been replaced in the Ukraine squad by Valery Vorobiev of Torpedo Moscow, Yury Virt from Shakhtar Donetsk and Vitaly Reva of Kyin Dynamo. Spartak sold Levitsky's understudy Alexander Filimonov to Kyiv last month leaving them now looking for a goalkeeper ahead of the Champions League registration deadline on Friday.
