French international midfielder Eric Carriere is joining Lyon from Nantes in a move finalised today.

Carriere has cost £8 million and now has a four year contract at Lyon. He was taken to the Confederations Cup by France after helping Nantes to win the title last season.

Lyon sold striker Steve Marlet to Fulham yesterday for £11.5 million allowing them to land Carriere in a transfer that took three months to complete. Lyon also sent Vikash Dhorasoo to Bordeaux yesterday to make space in their midfield for the 28 year old Carriere and the club are now in talks to sign Strasbourg goalkeeper Pegguy Luyindula ahead of Friday's Champions League deadline.
