Rangers want work permit for Arveladze

First Published: Aug 30, 2001

Ajax Amsterdam striker Shota Arveladze is waiting a work permit after agreeing a transfer to Glasgow Rangers.

The Georgian forward is a non-Eu player so Rangers have to apply for the permit to allow him to play in the UK.

Arveladze was in Glasgow yesterday to go through a medical and sign a four year contract with Rangers paying £3.2 million for the 28 year old.

Ajax are putting the money earned from the sale of their top scorer from last season to sign Dutch international goalkeeper Sander Westerveld from Liverpool.
