Maldini faces two month stop

First Published: Dec 21, 2001

AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini will miss two months with a knee injury.

The veteran left back was stretchered off the field in a 1-1 draw at Atalanta but no serious damage was done to his left knee ligaments.

An MRI scan revealed bruised ligaments and he is expected to be fit to play again by March.

Milan may look to replace him for a while with Roma's Zago who has refused a new contract with the Italian champions and wants to move.
