Liverpool want Kluivert again

First Published: Dec 30, 2001

Liverpool are back in talks to sign Dutch international striker Patrick Kluivert.

The FC Barcelona star came close to leaving the Spanish Liga for Liverpool in the summer and the Anfield club want to push through his move to them in January.

Kluivert is set to leave Barcelona in the new year with incoming coach Carlos Bianchi ready to lose the former AC Milan and Ajax forward.

Liverpool is his first choice although Manchester United and Real Madrid have both looked at Kluivert in recent months.

The UEFA Cup holders sold Robbie Fowler last month to Leeds and have added Nicolas Anelka to their squad in a loan deal for the rest of this season but have made contact again with Kluivert's agent.
