Turkey keep experienced squad together
First Published: Feb 23, 2001Turkey have named their squad to play a friendly against Turkey next week.
The Turks were beaten 4-0 in Istanbul back in November by world and European champions France but this squad shows no major changes.
The squad in full -
Goalkeepers - Rustu Recber (Fenerbahce) and Omer Catkic (Gaziantepspor).
Defenders - Fatih Akyel (Galatasaray), Ogun Temizkanoglu (Fenerbahce), Alpay Ozalan (Aston Villa) and Tolga Dogantez (Genclerbirligi).
Midfielders - Sergen Yalcin (Trabzonspor), Ergun Penbe (Galatasaray), Okan Buruk (Galatasaray), Hasan Sas (Galatasaray), Emre Belozoglu (Galatasaray), Tayfur Havutcu (Besiktas), Abdullah Ercan (Fenerbahce), Muzzy Izzet (Leicester City) and Tugay Kerimoglu (Glasgow Rangers).
Strikers - Hakan Sukur (Internazionale), Nihat Kahveci (Besiktas), Fatih Tekke (Gaziantepspor), Arif Erdem (Galatasaray) and Oktay Derelioglu (Trabzonspor).
