Real Madrid have withdrawn midfielder Steve McManaman from the England squad.
McManaman was selected in a squad of 31 to play a friendly against Spain on Wednesday night at Villa Park in Sven Goran Eriksson's first game in charge of the England team.
The former Liverpool star was a certain starter for Eriksson after great recent form for Real who drew at Deportivo la Coruna 2-2 in an excellent match which saw Deportivo recover from 2-0 down. McManaman came on as a late substitute for Real but is not fit enough to join up with the England squad tonight.
