Spain forced to drop Hierro from squad

Spain have had to drop veteran defender Fernando Hierro from their squad to play a friendly on Wednesday night with England in Birmingham.

The Real Madrid star has only just received confirmation of a one game ban imposed by FIFA last November after a fight between the centre back and Holland striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink saw both players red carded.

Hierro has been replaced in the Spain squad by Real Zaragoza defender Paco.
