OM loan defender Issa to Chelsea

Chelsea have taken Olympique Marseille centre back Pierre Issa on loan until the end of the season.

The London club will see the 25 year old South African join them on a short term contract next week after the defender has been on international duty this weekend with South Africa who face Burkina Faso in a 2002 World Cup qualifer.

Issa is no longer wanted by new OM coach Javier Clemente after more than four years at the club.

OM have also agreed to release midfielder Frederic Brando on loan to Manchester City next week.

Issa joins a Chelsea squad looking for defensive reinforcements as they continue talks with Gianluca Festa to join them from Middlesbrough. French defender Frank Leboeuf is likely to leave the London club soon.
