Paraguayan star Jose Luis Chilavert is in talks to return to his native country.
The Strasbourg goalkeeper has not played league football for 19 years in Paraguay but the Cerro Porteno club have opened talks with the Paraguay captain and hope to sign him by the weekend.
The former South American player of the year moved from Argentine club Velez Sarsfield to French relegation candidates Strasbourg in November but has fallen out with the club's management and lost his place in the first tea, Earlier this month Boca Juniors considered brining Chilavert back to Argentina after his agent protested that Chilavert could not be photographed as a substitute for the French club as it would damage his reputation in South America. The goalkeeper was an outspoken critic of the country's military leadership while in Paraguay and chose to move his family out of the country to play club football.
