Manchester City have dumped Costa Rican international striker Paulo Wanchope on the transfer list after he attacked manager Joe Royle following a 1-0 FA Cup win on Saturday.
Wanchope was furious at his substitution in a tight game at Maine Road against Mancheter City and after the squad returned to the dressing room he confronted manager Royle with a verbal abuse but was held back by team mates from carrying out threats to attack th manager.
City have now acted to off load the forward who made his name three years ago with Derby County.
Wanchope saw a move to West ham turn sour very quickly in 1999 and blamed racist fans but his inconsistent and lazy style of play angered supporters and team mates and his goal return in recent seasons has been poor.
The striker started his sporting life as a basketball player in Costa Rica and only turned to football seven years ago and City were also angry with the player when he returned last from a World Cup qualifier last November. City bought the striker for £4.5 million and are set to lose money on the wayward striker if they push through plans to dump him from the squad.
