Panathinaikos have signed Polonia Warsaw striker Emmanuel Olisadebe.
The 23 year old qualified last year to play for the Polish national team after he was granted Polish citizenship. The forward was born in Nigeria but signed for Polinia four years ago. The Athens club have signed the forward on an initial contract until June 2002 with an option to extend his stay at the club by another three seasons to 2005 in a deal which sees the Greek league leaders pay an transfer fee of £900,000 to start with.
Olisadabe is not eligible for the Champions League after he played for Polonia earlier this season in the UEFA Cup and he has already started training with his new club. The total pay out if Olisadebe signs a 2005 contract for the Greek club could top £4 million for the forward who has scored three goals in five games for Poland.
