Malaga have offered Arsenal £9 million for Nwankwo Kanu.
The Nigerian star is on international duty this week as he prepares for a 2002 World Cup qualifier against Ghana at the weekend.
A win will take Nigeria to the finals in Korea and Japan.
Kanu has been linked with a move away from Arsenal for some time and Malaga want the forward after running into trouble with their proposed purchase of Costa Rican star Paulo Wanchope from Manchester City.
Malaga will now wait to see if the London club are tempted to sell the former Inter player but the Spanish side have already added to their squad today.
Boavista's Portuguese international Carlos Magalhaes Litos has signed a four year contract with Malaga after the club's agreed a £1.3 million transfer fee with a further £300,000 due if the club reach the Champions League next season.
