AC Milan look at Pirlo and Nakata as play makers

First Published: Jun 30, 2001

AC Milan want a play maker and have contacted Inter about Andrea Pirlo and AS Roma concerning Hidetoshi Nakata.

The Japan star is seen as a possible replacement after Milan lost Rui Costa to Parma AC in a £32 million transfer struck last night.

The Portuguese star is not happy about the move which was rushed through to provide Fiorentina with cash ahead of July 3rd bankruptcy hearings in Florence.

His loss leaves new Milan coach hunting a creative leader in midfield.

Pirlo has starred for the last two years with the Italian under-21 team but was loaned to Brescia last year by Inter and is not a regular for them.

Roma has so far resisted offers from Parma and Arsenal for Japan star Nakata.
