New South Korean coach Guus Hiddink has named veteran defender Hong Myung-bo as his captain for the 2002 World Cup finals.

South Korea host the finals with Japan and the 32 year old has been chosen to lead Hiddink's new line up for the co-hosts.

Hong plays in the J-League with Kashiwa Reysol and has been part of the last two World Cup finals squads for the Asian team.

Hiddink will name his first squad next week to play in a four nation tournament in Egypt during the latter part of April.
