Portugal recall defender Cristovao

Portugal have recalled 30 year old defender Helder Cristovao to play Holland on Wednesday night.

The Portuguese have injury problems in central defence and the Deportivo La Coruna player could start against the Dutch in their 2002 World Cup qualifier.

Portugal lost Everton defender Abel Xavier from their squad at the weekend and then saw Fernando Nelson withdraw with Beto also struggling to be fit for the group two decider.

Portugal lead the section with ten points and are three ahead of the Dutch as they prepare for Wednesday night's clash in Oporto.
