Ferguson drops out of Scotland squad

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson has been forced to pull out of the Scotland squad with a rib injury.

Ferguson was injured in the 2-2 draw at Hampden Park with Belgium on Saturday which saw the Scots lose a 2-0 lead to an injury time goal and Ferguson is now unavailable for the Wednesday night 2002 World Cup qualifier at home to San Marino.

Coach Craig Brown has drafted Dundee midfielder Gavin Rae into his squad for the tie in his first senior appearance after more than a season with the under-21 team.
