Sankovic makes Slovenia senior break through

Slovenia coach Srecko Katanec has called up under-21 defender Goran Sankovic to his squad to face Yugoslavia on Wednesday night.

The 2002 World Cup qualifier comes after Slovenia drew 1-1 in Moscow against Russia and Zeljko Milinovic is suspended from the squad's defence.

Sankovic has played 33 times for the Slovenia under-21 team but this is his first senior call-up and he plays in the J-League for Jef United. Milinovic was suspended for a yellow card he received on Saturday night which was added to an earlier booking to suspend him for one match.
