Suker called before draft dodging investigation

First Published: Mar 27, 2001

Croatia star Davor Suker has appeared in a Zagreb court to answer questions about draft dodging allegations made against him.

Suker helped Croatia to a fourth place finish at the 1998 World Cup finals in their first presence in the FIFA event.

The Zagreb county court is looking into claims that the 33 year old ignored military call-ups while playing in Spain with Sevilla and Manchester United.

Suker faces five years in prison if found guilty but he has yet to be charged with any offence as investigations continue. He currently plays with West Ham in the Premiership after a move from Arsenal last summer.
