United to sell Fortune

First Published: May 31, 2001

South African international Quinton Fortune has been put up for sale by Manchester United.

United want £3 million for the left sided midfielder signed from Atletico Madrid two years ago.

The 24 year old has been linked with a loan move to Perugia but that fell through and the English champions want an outright sale of the player bought as cover for left winger Ryan Giggs after a series of injury problems for Swede Jesper Blomqvist.

Fortune is looking at offers to stay in the Premiership with Newcastle or Fulham and played only seven times last season for United.
