Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert has agreed a new contract with FC Barcelona to 2006.
The deal has yet to be signed but the 24 year old expects the formalities to be completed soon.
"I am very happy about this and I just hope that the fans are as pleased as I am," the player tells today's Spanish press.
"We have reached an agreement and all we need to do now is put it on to paper and sign it, and that should be a very straightforward matter."
"I want to score a lot more goals for the club, win more titles and make the fans happy."
Kluivert had an offer to join Chelsea but the decision of his agents to meet Real Madrid for talks in March met with a hostile reaction from the Camp Nou fans.
Barca lost 1-0 at home to Oviedo on Sunday and are unlikely to reach the Champions League next season after this latest defeat in a poor season.
The club are also looking for a new coach but Kluivert has hit 17 goals so far in the current campaign as they face the final two game sof the Liga season needing two wins to join the elite competition next year.
Kluivert is with the Dutch national team squad ahead of World Cup qualifiers in the next few days and his Barca contract was due to run out next year.
