Australia are sending police protection to Montevideo after their squad was jostled on arrival in the Uruguayan capital.
Players were spat at by Uruguay fans at the airport as Frank Farina's side arrived to defend their 1-0 lead in the World Cup play-off which is settled on Sunday.
Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer complained to Uruguay ambassador Pablo Sader about the treatment his players received yesterday and a federal police officer is being transferred from Buenos Aires to help protect the Australian squad.
