Nigeria see December friendly cancelled

Nigeria have seen Egypt pull out of a friendly planned for Lagos next month.

Both sides are preparing for the African Nations Cup next January with Nigeria going to the World Cup finals in May.

Egyptian club Al-Ahly have exceeded expectations and reached the final of the African Champions Cup meaning the national team face a clash with the proposed date of the Nigeria trip to play on December 15th.

Fasting at Ramadan has also hampered Egyptian plans to raise a squad for the game next month but a January 8th meeting in Cairo is due to go ahead.

The African Nations Cup starts on January 19th in Mali.
