AS Roma: knee surgery for Montella and Tristan move

First Published: Oct 26, 2001

Italian champions AS Roma may send striker Vincenzo Montella for knee surgery.

The forward has been rested for the past ten days with a knee swelling but persitent knee problems mean an operation could be booked soon for the Italian international.

Montella is certain to miss the Rome derby with SS Lazio this weekend leaving veteran Gabriel Batistuta and Italian international Marco Delvecchio to contest the striking place alongside captain Francesco Totti. Delvecchio has not been fit recently and Roma have been linked with a December bid for Deportivo star Diego Tristan.
