Colombia name World Cup squad to face Chile

Colombia have retained veteran striker Faustino Asprilla in their squad to face Chile in a 2002 World Cup qualifier next week.

Colombia are now likely to finish fifth in CONMEBOL's qualifying but need a win against Chile on November 7th who have no chance of progress. If Colombia do finish fifth they face a two-leg play-off with Australia in November.

The squad in full -

Goalkeepers - Oscar Cordoba (Boca Juniors) and Farid Mondragon (Galatasaray).

Defenders - Gerardo Bedoya (Racing Club), Jersson Gonzalez (America), Gerardo Vallejo (Deportivo Cali), Ivan Lopez (Santa Fe), Mario Yepes (River Plate), Andres Orozco (Medellin), Ivan Ramiro Cordoba (Inter) and Roberto Carlos Cortes (Medellin).

Midfielders - Mauricio Serna (Boca Juniors), Freddy Grisales (Atletico Nacional), Jorge Bolano (Parma), Arnulfo Valentierra (Once Caldas) and John Javier Restrepo (Medellin).

Strikers - Faustino Asprilla (Atlante), Carlos Castro (Millonarios), Leonardo Mina Polo (Deportivo Cali), Rafael Castillo (Pereira) and Juan Pablo Angel (Aston Villa).
