Shevchenko injury scare for Ukraine

Ukraine are worrying over the fitness of star striker Andriy Shevchenko ahead of their World Cup play-offs against Germany next month.

Shevchenko needs surgery on his nose after a break suffered in a 0-0 draw with Bologna today.

The Milan top scorer collided accidentally with Alessandro Gamberini in the second half at the San Siro and will have an operation before midweek. Ukraine start their two match series with Germany on November 10th and their chances may depend on the fitness of the powerful front runner.
