AS Roma add Batistuta to injury list

AS Roma have seen Gabriel Battistuta added to their injury problems after Saturday's Rome derby win.

The veteran striker has a thigh injury and is unlikely to play for Argentina in the second week of November as they complete their 2002 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Batiatuta was called up by Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa last week and was due to play only his second game for the national team so far this year but Roma say he is to miss the next two weeks.

Roma have recently seen Marco Delvecchio retrun from injury an dhe is not yet fully fit with veteran Abel Balbo also unable to fill-in regularly for Batistuta now that Italian striker Vincenzo Montella has been sent for knee surgery which will keep him out of action until the new year.

Teenager Antonio Cassano could now get his first team chance after a summer move from Bari with captain Francesco Totti pushed further forward.
