Barthez could miss French trip to Oz

Manchester United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez could miss the controversial trip to Australia for a November 11th friendly in Melbourne.

The United star is a doubt for World Cup holders France with an ear infection and misses tomorrow night's Champions League game in Lille.

Barthez was named in the France squad today by coach Roger Lemerre to make the trip to Melbourne after FIFA backed down from plans to impose a one player per club rule on the two teams following a campaign led by Arsenal.

The London club still believe a FIFA meeting tomorrow could back their opposition to the friendly.
