Scotland coach Craig Brown has named his squad to face Latvia at Hampden Park on October 6th.
The Scots need to win and hope that other results go their way to stay in with a chance of a play-off as Belgium face group six rivals Croatia.
Brown’s contract ends in December and new call-ups include goalkeepers Paul Gallacher and Jamie Langfield. Norwich midfielder Gary Holt wins a first cap alongside Hearts player Scott Severin and Barry Nicholson and Gavin Rae. Dundermline striker Stephen Crawford is a new cap while Crystal Palace forward Dougie Freedman is recalled.
