Paraguay name World Cup squad
First Published: Sep 28, 2001Paraguay have named their squad to play Argentina in October.
The Argentines have already reached the 2002 World Cup finals but Paraguay need a win to stay in second place behind them.
They host Argentina on October 7th with the top four teams to go through to Korea and Japan next May.
The squad in full -
Goalkeepers - Jose Luis Chilavert (Strasbourg), Ricardo Tavarelli (Olimpia) and Aldo Bobadilla (Cerro Porteno).
Defenders - Francisco Arce (Palmeiras), Emilio Martinez (Cerro Porteno), Celso Ayala (River Plate), Carlos Gamarra (AEK Athens), Juan Caceres (Cerro Porteno) and Claudio Morel Rodriguez (San Lorenzo).
Midfielders - Estanislao Struway (Libertad), Victor Quintana (FC Porto), Guido Alvarenga (Cerro Porteno), Gustavo Morinigo (Libertad) and Denis Caniza (Pachuca).
Strikers - Edgar Robles (Libertad), Roque Santacruz (Bayern Munich), Jorge Campos (Cerro Porteno) and Jose Cardozo (Toluca).
