Romania hunt World Cup play-off place

Romania have named their World Cup squad to hopefully seal a play-off place.

The Romanians host Georgia in Bucharest on October 6th needing at least a draw to take the play-off place behind likely group winners Italy.

The squad in full -

Goalkeeper - Bogdan Stelea (Salamanca), Bogdan Vintila (National Bucharest) and Bogdan Lobont (Dinamo Bucharest).

Defenders - Gheorghe Popescu (Lecce), Iulian Filipescu (Real Betis), Daniel Chirita (Dinamo Bucharest), Adrian Iencsi (Rapid Bucharest), Florentin Dumitru (Steaua Bucharest), Dan Lacusta (Astra Ploiesti) and Iulian Miu (Steaua Bucharest).

Midfielders - Laurentiu Rosu (Numancia), Tiberiu Ghioane (Kyiv Dynamo), Dorinel Munteanu (Wolfsburg), Florin Pirvu (Dinamo Bucharest) and Mihai Tararache (Grasshoppers Zurich).

Strikers - Adrian Ilie (Valencia), Daniel Pancu (Rapid Bucharest), Adrian Mutu (Verona), Marius Niculae (Sporting Lisbon) and Adrian Mihalcea (Dinamo Bucharest).
