Wanchope to miss Costa Rica's World Cup bid

Costa Rica striker Paolo Wanchope has been sent for surgery by Manchester City.

The forward has torn knee cartilege and faces at least six weeks out of action after surgery this weekend. He will miss the conclusion of Costa Rica's 2002 World Cup qualifying campaign unless he can recover quickly.
